It's hard to imagine the world today without coffee. In most European countries, coffee pots containing freshly brewed coffee are just as much part of the breakfast table as bread and butter. Villeroy & Boch coffee pots can be combined with different breakfast crockery collections and are generally just as dishwasher-safe as your plates and cups. However, it's worth just giving it a quick rinse by hand as you'll probably want to fill your pot up again a few hours later for your coffee break. The pot will be used again for coffee and cakes in the afternoon or at the end of the evening dinner party to round off the perfect meal. That's why Villeroy & Boch offers coffee pots with timeless designs that never go out of fashion.
When the coffee bean came to Europe in early colonial times, the nobility was immediately impressed. Coffee drinking – at home and later also in coffee salons or even cafés – became a firm ritual, and the right equipment became absolutely essential. This marked the birth of the classical coffee set with cups and saucers, milk jugs and sugar bowls. However, the heart of the service and the real eye-catcher in the parlour was the coffee pot. Unlike tea, coffee does not need to infuse and takes on the right flavour directly after being brewed. Therefore, rather than a particularly rounded shape, the pot had a more slim, long-drawn out shape which can still be recognised hundreds of years later in the designs of Villeroy & Boch's coffee pots.
Villeroy & Boch's coffee pots are made from high-quality porcelain. Depending on the collection, the pots are made of gleaming white premium porcelain or premium bone porcelain. Both types are characterised by their high resistance to impacts and scratches and are therefore perfect for everyday use. Premium bone porcelain has a special, softly shimmering lustre which brings even more elegance to the table. Depending on the collection, the coffee pots and lids are accentuated with colourful patterns and sometimes with gold or platinum applications. They are sealed in a hard glaze to prevent them from losing their brightness due to regular cleaning.
Even if coffee consumption has become characterised over recent years by new coffee machines with pads and capsules, for true coffee-lovers, nothing beats the pure taste of a Turkish or filter coffee made from freshly ground beans. In the case of several cups, the traditional preparation also saves a lot of time and effort so that you do, not only your cups but also the environment, a huge favour. Given that the average person consumes about three cups a day, this means that just under 1,100 aluminium capsules per person are thrown away every year. A full coffee pot from Villeroy & Boch holds enough for six cups – which makes for a leisurely coffee break and is a step in the right direction.
