At a glance

  • Before buying, measure the space available for the bathtub.

  • Body height determines the dimensions of the bathtub.

  • Size, shape, bathroom fittings - there are a few things to consider.

Basic questions

  • How much space is available for the bathtub?

  • What shape should the bathtub have: square, oval, round?

  • The material is decisive for the bathtub: acrylic, mineral cast or quartz?

  • Should the new bathtub be freestanding or built-in?

  • Round or square bath mixer tap: what suits you?

Note:

Measure the available space, as this is crucial for the new bath.

What dimensions should the bathtub have for which height?

Of course, the dimensions of the bathtub depend on your height. You have the opportunity to try them out in many specialist shops. You can also try out Villeroy & Boch bathtubs at retailers near you before you buy. As a general rule, the bath should be around five to ten centimetres wider than your shoulders. The length should be approximately the same distance from your neck to your feet so that you can lie comfortably.

Are there bathtubs in which you can lie in pairs?

There are both extra-wide and corner baths that offer space for two adults. The bath from the "Aveo New Generation" collection from Villeroy & Boch offers plenty of space to relax and is characterised by its elegant design.

Finding the perfect bathtub: Size, installation and placement

  • Measure yourself and anyone else using the tub to find the perfect length and width.

  • Determine the perfect backrest by calculating the distance between your shoulders and buttocks.

  • The lying surface should be as long as the distance between your buttocks and your feet.

  • Consider the cost and effort of installation. Freestanding baths may require a different type of installation than built-in models.

  • Plan the placement of the bath carefully. Make sure there is enough space for access and cleaning.
