How can I clean the shower toilet and maintain it sustainably?

Surface cleaning of your shower toilet

To clean your shower toilet, you need a soft sponge or cloth, water and a gentle cleaning agent. Neutral pH cleaning agents are the best choice here. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents, as these can damage the surface. Wipe the toilet seat with a soft cloth or sponge and a mild soap solution, then rinse with clean water and make sure to dry all surfaces and hinges thoroughly.

Cleaning the shower arm for shower toilets

The shower arm of the shower toilet cleans itself on many shower toilet models. If necessary, you can extend the shower arm manually and clean it with a soft cloth and fresh water.

Removing limescale from the shower toilet

To counteract limescale, regular cleaning is the be-all and end-all. If limescale does build up on your shower toilet, use a commercially available descaler. First test it on a less obvious area to ensure that it is compatible with the material. You can then remove the limescale according to the manufacturer's instructions.

QuickRelease: lightning-fast WC lid cleaning

If you have a shower toilet with QuickRelease, you can simply remove the toilet seat and lid for cleaning. This makes it easier to reach hard-to-reach areas and removes deposits and dirt from the toilet seat and lid as well as the toilet itself in no time at all.

How often should you clean your shower toilet?

You should clean a toilet with a shower about once a day. This makes cleaning particularly quick and easy. A daily cleaning routine prevents the build-up of limescale, mould and bacteria. Many shower toilets already have integrated cleaning functions. The shower arm is often self-cleaning and some models have an integrated descaling function.

Effective cleaning with CeramicPlus and AntiBac

There are several functions that improve the hygiene of the shower toilet and make cleaning easier. At Villeroy & Boch, CeramicPlus and AntiBac are available for this purpose. CeramicPlus is a dirt-repellent surface glaze that saves you up to 90 per cent of cleaning time. AntiBac is itself antibacterial and reduces bacterial growth on treated surfaces by more than 99.9 per cent. The glaze contains silver ions, which are of course not harmful to health.
