Ingredients:

  • 250 g flour
  • ½ fresh yeast cube (or 1 sachet of dry yeast)
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 150 ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 50 g butter
  • Pinch of salt
  • Coarse sugar

Yeast bunnies

Preparation:

  1. Put the flour, salt and sugar into a mixing bowl and stir. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm milk, add to the flour mixture with the butter and egg and knead.
  2. Knead the dough, cover and leave to prove in a warm place for 1 hour.

  3. Then cut the dough into 6 pieces. Roll each piece into a strand 30 cm long. Put aside a small piece for the tail and roll into a small ball.

  4. Place a ball in the middle of each strand and wrap the ends twice around the ball.

  5. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and leave to prove for a further 20 minutes. Brush with cream or egg yolk and decorate with coarse sugar.

  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 °C for about 10-15 minutes.
