Vitamin Overkill


50 ml passion fruit juice
50 ml freshly squeezed orange juice
50 ml mango juice
50 ml lime juice
1 tablespoon cane sugar
3 Szechuan peppercorns
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 cardamom pod
¼ scraped-out vanilla pod
2 leaves each of fresh basil and fresh mint


Crush the cardamom pods and Szechuan pepper and caramelise along with the vanilla pods and sugar in a heavy pan until golden brown. Add lime juice and bring to the boil. Leave the mixture on the heat until the cane sugar has completely dissolved and mix together with the ginger, mango juice, passion fruit juice and orange juice. Pour into a long drink glass and serve over ice with basil and mint.
